The first record about Mielno comes from 1266. The biggest advantage of the commune is without doubt a 25 km long coastline with wide sandy guarded beaches, as well as the proximity to beautiful Lake Jamno. There, at the sailing wharf KM “Tramp”of the oldest Marine Club of the central coast of the Baltic sea, at a 140 meter-long pier you can rent yachts, kayaks or water bikes. Pedestrian and bicycle tracks go all the way through the commune, as well as the water route of Lake Jamno. You can walk along a promenade which runs along the beach. Its safe exit allows the access to the beach for the handicapped and wheelchair users. On the promenade, from which you can admire a beautiful view of the sea, you can also play chess with pieces of a significant size.

The biggest natural advantage of Mielno, except of the clear water, is a characteristic sea climate with the air full of iodine and salt. The existing deposits of green clay, warm springs as well as the geographical location and natural resources and, most importantly, the absence of troublesome industry in this area allow our commune to strive for the status of a health resort.
Mielno, the commune capital, is located 12 km away from Koszalin. In the summer season but also in the off-season people without cars are offered easy access to Koszalin by means of MZK buses no.1 and 20, PKS buses which run through Mielenko and Ch³opy to Sarbinowo and G±ski as well as privately owned buses. It is also possible to ride along the bike path from Koszalin. There is a number of bike paths leading through Mielno including the bike path through Mielenko to Ch³opy and Sarbinowo along the route through a coniferous and deciduous forest near the sand dunes.
